When each women believes in herself, backs herself, and other women, we all achieve more. We support women to advance in the career they choose.
Susan Sheehan is the Founder and CEO of Back Yourself Mentoring. She is a former Chief Operating Officer, Finance Director and executive board member. She was the first woman executive in a business where she progressed from manager to COO within six years.
She went on to attend Stanfords Business School, complexing a residential Executive Leaders Programme over two months in California in 2015. She integrates her business experience with her Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) Practitioner training to partner with women and organisations.
As a woman and employee she understands the financial demands on organisations and the absolute certainty that they cannot achieve it without half of the population at the table.
She has worked in the media and entertainment industry for 20 years where in some of those businesses nearly half of the employees are consistently women. Yet few are making it to the top. Where 60 percent of her former team, 48 of them women, told her they wanted to progress, to become leaders and have a clear career path. On entering the business she learned that none of them had any career development plans, no mentoring or technical or leadership training.
All too common she sees the loss of women immediately prior to or at middle management due to lack of opportunities and/or flexibility. Susan knows that the mentors that mentored her were and are fundamental to her success.
She has worked with global programmes including See it Be It (Creative Industry accelerator programme by Cannes Lions) and with SME's that are focused on developing their future leaders.
While founded in London (UK), Back Yourself and Susan partners with organisations across the UK, Ireland and California.
Our Charity Partner
We know that access to mentoring creates
new opportunities and we want to empower girls from all backgrounds with new experiences
That’s why since 2018 we partner with The Girls' Network. We donate five percent of our fees from organisations and 10 percent from each woman investing in herself.
This is in recognition of our ethos of giving back and that of our mentors and mentees.
